Deirdre McEachern is a nature and fine art photographer based in Wolfeboro, NH. Deirdre captures images of flowers and other natural phenomena, most often hand-holding the camera which allows her the ability to move freely and capture her subjects from unique angles. Deirdre shoots with a 60mm macro lens with magnification, a Lensbaby lens or a 40-150mm zoom on a OM System M1 Mirrorless camera or on her iPhone 13 Max Pro. She edits her images in Adobe Lightroom. Deirdre’s work is inspired by other macro, floral and wildlife photographers whose images convey feelings of awe.
Statement from the Artist
I choose to focus my photography on primarily floral portraits because though there are certainly many varieties of beautiful flowers, even the most ordinary can still delight or surprise us. With a close-up or macro view, previously unnoticed details become captivating, sometimes being seen for the first time - offering the thrill of a new discovery. With a soft focus some blossoms are exquisite in their delicacy. Others can wow us with bold and robust color, while still others present a quiet, reverent softness. When thoughtfully observed, every flower has the ability to evoke a wide variety of emotional responses. My hope is that you experience your own moments of surprise, delight or awe as you view my images.
